(Florence, SC) -- A man inspired by Dylann Roof will spend close to three years behind bars.
Federal prosecutors announced yesterday that Conway 31-year-old Benjamin McDowell was sentenced for trying to buy a gun illegally.
McDowell was arrested in Myrtle Beach last year when he tried to buy the gun from an undercover FBI agent.
Prosecutors believe McDowell was planning to attack a synagogue similar to the way Roof attacked a black church.
