School Board Defends Charges Of Excessive Travel

(Allendale, SC) -- A school board is defending itself against charges that it's travel requests have been excessive.

The state Department of Education oversees the Allendale County School District, and it recently accused board members of overspending on travel to conferences.

Allendale School Board Chair Wilda Robinson, though, says board members have only gone to one conference since the state takeover last year.

She tells The State the board's hands are clean, and she'll ask state education officials today to review their records.
