Police Officer Suspended After K9's Death

(Columbia, SC) -- A Columbia Police officer is facing consequences for a deadly mistake.

A K9 died after being left in a hot car for hours last month. Even though the windows were down and the A/C was on, when the officer returned to the car, K9 Turbo was in heat distress.

The two-year-old died days later, and Police Chief Skip Holbrook said yesterday the officer is suspended without pay and will no longer handle K9s.
