Hurricane Florence Eyewall Hits North Carolina

(Wilmington, NC) -- The eyewall of Hurricane Florence has hit the North Carolina coast.

The Category 1 storm is still packing 90 mile an hour maximum winds as it marches toward landfall.

Heavy rains and a ten-foot storm surge have been turning streets into streams for hours and scores of people are trapped by floodwaters.

In New Bern, North Carolina, more than 100 people are waiting for rescuers to take them to safety.

A weather station in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina got more than a foot of rain in 24 hours and already around 200-thousand customers are without power.
