SC Ed Official Responds To Teacher 'Walkout'

(Columbia, SC) -- A rally for higher teacher pay will be costly for many across the state.

That's what State School Superintendent Molly Spearman said yesterday about a rally planned for tomorrow at the statehouse.

Spearman says she supports the calls for change, but by skipping school, teachers are walking out on their obligations.

So many teachers have made plans to attend the rally that some districts have canceled classes tomorrow, and Spearman says that will hurt bus drivers, cafeteria workers and other support staff who will miss a day of pay.
