City Official Wants USC To Do More To Address Violence

(Columbia, SC) -- A Columbia official is accusing USC of being hypocrites when it comes to violence in Five Points.

City Councilman Daniel Rickenmann said yesterday if USC police can hand out speeding tickets on Gervais Street, then they can help patrol Five Points.

He urged the university to step up to the plate. USC says Five Points isn't part of its jurisdiction, but it has added extra officers to patrol the areas around Five Points.
