City of Cayce Working with State Officials to Reroute Coastal Traffic

CAYCE, SC – On Monday, September 2, 2019, the City of Cayce’s Department of Public Safety will work with state officials to reroute traffic for those being evacuated from the coastal counties in response to Governor McMaster’s order of mandatory evacuations, effective at noon on Monday, September 2, 2019.

Beginning at 8:00 AM Monday, motorists will not be able to travel eastbound on I-26 starting around exit 116 and ramps will be closed while our officers assist state officials in preparing for lane reversals from the coast..

At this time, we don’t expect that traffic will increase greatly coming into and around Cayce, but if and when that changes we will keep you informed. While we don’t believe at this time that our City will have major impacts from the Hurricane or the mandatory evacuations, it is important to keep our citizens informed. We will continue to update our citizens if conditions should change.
