SCDCA Files Petition Intervening In Water Rate Increase Request

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs is trying to intervene in a utility rate increase.

Blue Granite Water Company has filed a request with the Public Service Commission to hike customer's rates in areas including Richland, Lexington, and York counties.

Increases could be up to 46-percent for water rates and up to 56-percent for sewer rates if the request is approved.

The SCDCA filed a petition to intervene in the rate increase request as part of their mission to avoid excessive or unwarranted rate hikes.
