Man Kills Woman 23 Years After Killing Her Mother And Then Drowns Himself

Travis Lewis, 39

A man who killed a 75-year-old woman and her 52-year-old nephew 23 years ago struck again, this time murdering the daughter of his previous victimTravis Lewis, 39, returned to Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, and stabbed Martha McKay, 63, to death inside her home.

Police responded to an alarm at the historic Snowden House, which was where the 1994 movie The Client was filmed, and found the back door was open. When they went inside, they encountered Lewis. He jumped out of a second-floor window and fled in his car.

Lewis drove across the yard, but his car got stuck, forcing him to get out and try to escape on foot. Lewis ran toward a lake and into the water. He never resurfaced, and police used sonar to locate his body at the bottom of the lake.

Lewis was paroled in 2018 after serving 23 years of his 28.5-year sentence for murdering Sally Snowden McKay and Lee Baker in 1996. Officials have not said why Lewis targeted McKay.

The brutal murder left the peaceful neighborhood shocked.

"It's just a scary thing that's happened," a neighbor told WHBQ. "We are praying for the family."
