Hotels In South Carolina Struggling To Fill Rooms

(Columbia, SC) -- Hotels in South Carolina are still open, but many are closing.

This comes as Governor McMaster's executive order to close non-essential businesses went into effect yesterday.

Hotel owners say less than 10-percent of their rooms are filled, whereas they normally have over 80-percent occupancy this time of year.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism says 50-percent of hospitality industry workers could be laid off, furloughed, or terminated.
