Unemployment Numbers Up Over 100 Percent In South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) -- Unemployment numbers in the Palmetto State are increasing over 100-percent as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce says over 64-thousand people filed initial unemployment benefits claims last week.

The hardest hit areas are in Charleston and Horry counties. That's due to the service and hospitality industries being among the biggest employers in those areas.
