New Unemployment Claims In South Carolina Down For Sixth Consecutive Week

New unemployment claims in South Carolina are down.

The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce shows its sixth consecutive weekly decrease in new claims. But, the total number of people who have filed their first claim for unemployment insurance has surpassed 540-thousand in the last ten weeks. 

The agency has paid over one-point-five-billion dollars in benefits so far.
