McMaster Bans Sale Of Late Night Alcohol In Bars and Resturants

In renewing a State of Emergency order that expires today, Governor Henry McMaster has announced a prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages in bars and restaurants after 11pm.

The new order goes into effect tomorrow.It does not apply to convenience stores or grocery stores.

The prohibition is aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19 in the state’s younger age groups. DHEC cited statistics showing that 42% of Coronavirus cases in South Carolina over the past two weeks have occurred in the 21-30 year old age group.

McMaster reiterated that he will not issue a statewide mask ordinance.
