Sixth South Carolina Inmate Died Of Coronavirus Complications

(Columbia, SC) -- A sixth inmate has died from coronavirus-related complications. 

The South Carolina Department of Corrections says 49 year old Samuel Wilson Senior died at Lee Correctional Institution where he was being isolated since testing positive for COVID-19 on July 2nd. 

He had been an inmate at MacDougall Correctional Institution and had several underlying medical conditions. 

There are 84 offenders and 11 staff members at MacDougall that have the coronavirus.
