Hearing On Lawsuit Involving Using Grant Money For Private School Tuition

(Orangeburg, SC) -- A hearing will be held today in the lawsuit filed to try to stop Governor McMaster from spending 32-million dollars in grant money on families paying for private school tuition.

A judge signed a temporary restraining order on the money last week. Dr. Thomasena Adams filed the lawsuit after working in public education in Orangeburg County for 15 years.

The lawsuit against McMaster alleges using the funds for the private education sector violates South Carolina's constitution.

The Palmetto State Teachers Association filed a brief in support of the lawsuit on Monday.
