Man Who Researched Mass Shootings Pleads Not Guilty To Charges

A Columbia man is pleading not guilty to multiple charges of fraud and possession of illegal bump stocks.

Edward Daniel Kimpton will remain in custody after waiving his right to a bond hearing in federal court yesterday. The 25-year-old is accused of using dozens of aliases to buy nearly 30-thousand dollars' worth of firearms and ammo, plus five bump stocks.

Prosecutors say Kimpton was researching mass shootings as he made the purchases over a two-year span.
