New Guidelines For Visits To Nursing Home, Long-Term Care Facilities

(Columbia, SC) -- Nursing homes and assisted living facilities in South Carolina will soon allow outdoor patient visits.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control issued guidelines yesterday to make sure the visits are done safely.

To allow for visitation, a facility must be screening residents for coronavirus symptoms daily, there must be no cases for staff or residents in the last 14 days, and the facility must have adequate staffing and PPE.

Once those requirements are met, two visitors will be allowed per patient at a time, with visits limited to 15 minutes.

Masks will be required, visitors will be screened, and no one under the age of 12 will be allowed unless under special circumstances.
