(Columbia, SC) -- A man wanted for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend and her two-year-old child in Minnesota is now in custody in South Carolina.
Police believe Renard Lydell Carter was in the Columbia area with plans to kill an ex-girlfriend. Carter was shot by Lexington County deputies after reportedly opening the door to his hotel room and pointing a weapon at officers.
He was taken to the hospital where he is being guarded by police before being extradited to Minnesota at a later date.
