Cause Of Death Released For University Of South Carolina Student

(Columbia, SC) -- Authorities are releasing more details about the death of a University of South Carolina student.

Nineteen-year-old Sam Laundon was with friends Saturday morning when he hopped a fence not far from the Olympia-Granby area.

His body was found in the Vulcan Quarry Sunday evening, and the coroner's office confirmed it was Laundon yesterday.

Though an investigation is still underway, the coroner says the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and body.
