Columbia Extends And Expands Face Covering Ordinance

(Columbia, SC) -- Columbia's mask ordinance is being extended and expanded. The previous order was set to expire on November 15th, but the new order passed unanimously by the Columbia City Council lasts through January 5th. 

It expands required face coverings to all public places, including busy sidewalks where distancing is not possible. Fines for not complying with the mask mandate have been increased to 100-dollars.

DHEC announced 825 cases of COVID-19 yesterday. That brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the Palmetto State to 175, 730 since the pandemic began. 

Twenty more deaths were reported. This brings the state's death toll to 3,776.
