(Columbia, SC) -- There's a new record for the number of South Carolina voters in a general election.

The State Election Commission says there were more than a million South Carolinians who voted absentee, which doubles the amount from 2016.

Total voter turnout on election day was more than two-point-five-million. That's the second highest turnout percentage in the past 25 years.
