Forty People Indicted In Federal Racketeering Conspiracy

(Columbia, SC) -- Forty people are facing charges in what is being called the largest federal racketeering conspiracy in the history of South Carolina. 

Inmates with the South Carolina Department of Corrections are accused of orchestrating murder, kidnapping, firearms distribution, and a drug operation. 

They allegedly used contraband cell phones for a drug trafficking operation. 

Every person being indicted faces a possible penalty of life in prison.
