Fetal Heartbeat Bill Passes Out Of South Carolina Senate Subcommittee

(Columbia, SC) -- A fetal heartbeat bill is moving forward in South Carolina.

The legislation would prevent women from getting an abortion six to seven weeks after they conceive.

It advanced out of the Senate Medical Affairs Subcommittee this week and next heads to the full Medical Affairs Committee.

If passed, doctors who ignore the rule could face up to two years in jail or a ten-thousand-dollar fine. Governor McMaster has said he will sign it into law if passed by the General Assembly.
