Proposed Legislation Would Give South Carolina Teachers Yearly Pay Increase

(Columbia, SC) -- A bill that would give South Carolina teachers a yearly pay increase is being considered by a Senate committee.

An approximate two-percent pay increase for the 2020 to 2021 school year was put on hold due to the pandemic.

But if this bill becomes law, teachers would see back pay by the end of this academic year.

The proposed legislation aims to approve a step increase in pay for educators, but does not necessarily offer help for cafeteria workers and administrators.
