Companies Call For South Carolina To Pass Hate Crimes Legislation

(Columbia, SC) -- Dozens of companies are asking South Carolina lawmakers to pass hate crimes legislation.

Currently, the Palmetto state is one of just three in the country without that type of law in place.

Leaders from Walmart, UPS, Duke Energy, AARP and IBM were among those calling for a hate crimes law to be passed.

Business leaders who support the legislation say it combats intolerance and attracts new businesses to the state.
