Bill To Prevent Trans Students On Girls Sports Teams Advances

(Columbia, SC) -- A bill that would prohibit transgender students from playing on middle school and high school girls sports teams is advancing.

A House subcommittee voted 3 to 1 on the measure, moving it forward to the full House Judiciary Committee.

This comes despite Education Superintendent Molly Spearman speaking out in opposition of the proposed legislation.

She says the South Carolina High School League's policy is to consider each issue individually, which she supports.
