Correctional Officer Accused Of Bringing Tobacco, Marijuana Into Prison

(Columbia, SC) -- A correctional officer is accused of furnishing contraband to inmates.

Twenty-four-year-old Jatuane Malik Huggins is charged with criminal conspiracy and misconduct in office for alleged crimes between late November of 2020 and early January of this year.

Police say Huggins was working at the MacDougall Institution when he conspired with two inmates so they could access cell phones, tobacco, and marijuana dropped on the prison yard by drones.

Huggins has been fired.
