(Columbia, SC) -- Democratic state lawmakers want South Carolina to join other states that want to expand Medicaid.
The federal initiative would expand the government-run health insurance program to around 200-thousand more people.
South Carolina Senate Democrats say the plan would create billions of dollars in growth in the healthcare industry.
Thirty-eight other states are already part of the expansion.
