First Time Unemployment Claims Up In South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) -- The number of people filing their first unemployment claims in South Carolina is on the rise. 

The Department of Employment and Workforce reports over 5,000 initial claims recorded for the week that ended Saturday. 

That's up 76% from the previous week. This marks the first time the state had over 5,000 new claims since the week ending March 6th.
