Fort Jackson Suspends Soldier Accused Of Assaulting Black Man

(Columbia, SC) -- Fort Jackson military leaders are suspending a soldier accused of assaulting a Black man.

Jonathan Pentland will no longer perform duties as an instructor on the base while he is investigated for third-degree assault and battery.

The charges stem from a viral video showing Pentland shoving a man outside of his home in Richland County.

The Pentland family has been removed from that house temporarily because it was vandalized Wednesday night.
