Soldier Accused Of Assault To Be Tried In Civilian Court

(Columbia, SC) -- A soldier living in South Carolina will be tried in civilian court for allegedly assaulting a Black man. 

Jonathan Pentland is facing assault and battery charges after a video showed him shoving the person outside of his home. 

Pentland had been working as a drill instructor at Fort Jackson at the time. He has since been suspended from his duties.
