SC House Not Advancing Bill Banning Trans Athletes From Girls' Teams

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina House is not advancing a bill that would have prohibited transgender student-athletes from playing on girls' teams in middle and high school.

It was rejected on a 13 to 11 vote by the House Judiciary Committee yesterday. This comes after South Carolina Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman spoke out against the bill.

The House Judiciary Committee had tabled a similar measure last month.
