Columbia Collecting Fines For Mask Mandate As It Ends

(Columbia, SC) -- Columbia's mask ordinance is no longer in effect, but city officials are still collecting money from fines.

The Columbia Richland County Fire Department says 631 violations were issued while the mandate was in place from late June of 2020 until last week.

Those violations total over 60-thousand dollars, which is expected to go to the general fund.

Officials say the majority of the violations were reported in the Five Points district.
