No Charges Against Detention Deputies For Jamal Sutherland's Death

(North Charleston, SC) -- Charges are not being filed against two detention deputies in connection to the death of an inmate.

Jamal Sutherland died at the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston in January while being forcibly removed from his cell for a bond hearing.

Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson says she cannot prove criminal intent beyond a reasonable doubt in the case. The two detention deputies were terminated in May.

The FBI is still investigating Jamal Sutherland's death.
