South Carolina Animal Care & Control Declares State Of Emergency

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina Animal Care & Control Association is declaring a state of emergency. 

The organization is concerned about the number of animals being dropped off at shelters in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville County, and Horry County. 

Under the emergency, the Association is asking shelters to put managed moratoriums in place to accept animals that are in or present imminent danger. 

A program called Summer Slam Emergency Rescue Operation will run through August 22nd to encourage more people to adopt or foster pets.
