South Carolina Sees Highest Single-Day COVID-19 Death Toll

(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina is reporting its highest single-day COVID-19 death total.

On Wednesday, DHEC announced 138 newly confirmed deaths from the virus. Twenty-eight of those are probable COVID-19 deaths, and 110 are confirmed.

Probable cases are still treated as confirmed cases by doctors, according to DHEC, but the difference is based on the type of test the person received.
