Twelve Inmates Charged For Riot That Left Two Officers Injured

(Columbia, SC) -- Twelve men are facing charges for a riot at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Police say two inmates were able to pop the lock on their cell doors before they unlocked all cell doors to release inmates in a certain area on September 3rd.

Officers entered the dorm to try and get inmates to return to their cells, but two officers were beaten with chairs, trash cans, and mattresses.

Two officers were taken to the hospital for injuries but have since been released to recover at home.
