Lawmaker Pre-Files Bill To Lower Drinking Age In South Carolina To 18

(Columbia, SC) -- A South Carolina lawmaker wants the minimum legal drinking age lowered to eighteen. 

State Representative Todd Rutherford pre-filed a bill to change the drinking age on Wednesday. 

It will be considered when the General Assembly meets again in January. 

The drinking age in South Carolina was raised from 18 to 21 in 1984.
