Former NFL Player Phillip Adams Had CTE, York County Coroner Says

(York County, SC) - The York County Coroner's Office says Phillip Adams was suffering from CTE before killing six people and then taking his own life.

The former NFL player's condition is called Stage 2 chronic traumatic encephalopathy, brain damage which experts say can be caused by playing football.

Adams killed Dr. Robert Lesslie, his wife Barbara, two of their grandchildren and two workers who were at their Rock Hill home in April.

The York County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the shootings.
