Columbia To Vote On Funding For Private Contractors To Fix Water Pipes

(Columbia, SC) -- The Columbia City Council is considering moving a million dollars to spend on private contractors to fix water pipes.

This comes as Columbia Water faces a 32-percent vacancy rate, causing a backlog in projects.

If approved, the money is expected to last through the end of the fiscal year, but more could be needed if there is an increase in leaks that needs to be fixed.

The vote happens at 2 this afternoon.
