State Agriculture Commissioner Calling For Action To Protect Farming

(Columbia, SC) -- State lawmakers are considering legislation that would help farmers in South Carolina.

Recent supply chain issues, rising fuel costs, and labor shortages have impacted the multi-million dollar industry. The most pressing issue right now, however, is the rising cost of fertilizer.

South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers says action needs to be taken immediately to protect the 200-thousand job, 42-million dollar industry in the state.
