New Task Force Addressing Capital City's Homeless Issue Head On

(Columbia, SC) -- Columbia officials are looking to end homelessness in the capital city.

The newly appointed Columbia task force will be composed of local leaders, chaired by At-Large Councilwoman Aditi Bussells. The group will be studying the root and the cause of homelessness and focus on identifying homeless hotspots in the community.

Bussells says the idea for the task force came from conversations with constituents on the campaign trail, many who said their number one concern in the city was the growing homelessness issue.

Part of the proposed solution is improvements to city mental health services offered to residents experiencing homelessness or other distress.
