The South Carolina Senate Senate supports the Department of Health and Environmental Control being dissolved.
They unanimously passed a bill Thursday that would split the state agency into two new departments. The measure now heads to the South Carolina House for consideration.
If approved, DHEC would become the Department of Behavioral & Public Health and the Department of Environmental Services.
