Gov. McMaster Calls For Overhaul To School Funding

(Columbia, SC) - Governor McMaster is calling for an overhaul of school funding.

Under his plan, McMaster says schools will receive 227-million more dollars in the upcoming state budget.

The amount of money given to each school would be determined by the statewide average student-to-teacher ratio.

The overhaul would also mean the creation of an online dashboard where parents and the public can see how each school district spends their funding.

The South Carolina Senate could consider the changes when they work on the state budget in the next few weeks.
