(Columbia, SC) - The South Carolina Speaker of the House is not running for re-election in November.
Darlington County Republican Jay Lucas made that announcement this week.
The House will elect their next Speaker on April 28th and that person will begin the role on the last day of the session, May 12th.
Lucas has served as Speaker of the House for the last eight years.
