Gov. McMaster Signs Restrictive Transgender Sports Bill Into Law

(Columbia, SC) - The "Save Women's Sports Act" is now law after being signed by Governor Henry McMaster.

The legislation requires athletes from elementary school to the college level to participate in sports teams that match their gender assigned at birth.

It bans transgender women from competing in women's sports. Despite pushback from several organizations,

McMaster says he signed the bill into law to protect young men and women pursuing athletic competition.
