Midlands Bracing For Irma

South Carolina is bracing for what is now Tropical Storm Irma. The storm is on a westerly path that could still bring heavy rain, gusty wind, and isolated tornadoes to parts of South Carolina.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for Upstate until early Tuesday. Governor Henry McMaster says some school districts and government offices will be closed today.

Here in the Midlands we’ll see the greatest impacts later this afternoon and this evening.  We could see wind gusts in excess of 50 mph and localized rainfall amount of up to 6-7 inches.

There is also the possibility of isolated tornadoes, plus some flooding and widespread power outages.
