- Governor McMaster is extending South Carolina's State of Emergency. The Executive Order will last for 15 more days. The statewide home or work order was originally issued April 6th, and falls under the State of Emergency.
- The National Weather Service is confirming an EF-2 tornado that touched down in Greenville County. The tornado took down trees and power lines, and damaged homes and cars. Officials say winds reached up to 115 miles per hour while the tornado was on the ground for about five-and-a-half miles. Nobody was hurt.
- South Carolina is receiving one-point-five-million surgical masks. Governor McMaster, Senator Graham, and Representative Duncan held a press conference to announce their arrival with Boeing yesterday. It's the largest single personal protective equipment delivery as part of the national pandemic response. Ninety-percent of the masks will be delivered to Prisma Health and 10-percent will go to M-U-S-C.
- There are eight more coronavirus deaths in South Carolina, bringing the state's total to 174. The Department of Health and Environmental Control also announced 237 new COVID-19 cases. There are now a total of five-thousand-490 confirmed cases in the Palmetto State.
- The South Carolina National Guard will perform a flyover for healthcare workers. F-16 fighter jets from the 169th Fighter Wing will be doing the round-the-state flyover today. The earliest flight time is 11:05 in Aiken, with flyover times in Orangeburg at noon, and Columbia at 12:10. The flyover is a salute to the state's medical professionals and first responders.
