- New deaths are being reported in connection to the coronavirus pandemic in South Carolina. The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced eight more deaths yesterday. That brings the death toll in the Palmetto State to 275. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now 6,626.
- Governor McMaster is lifting the mandatory work or home order beginning today. Restaurants in the state can also reopen for outdoor dining. Social distancing will still be in place for restaurants that plan to offer outdoor dining. McMaster is also removing executive orders that restrict short-term rentals.
- A Sumter woman is accused of licking her hands and touching food in the grocery store. Shenir Gibson Holliday was arrested for aggravated breach of peace and food tampering. A bond was set for 100-thousand dollars and she was issued a citation for violating the state home or work order. She allegedly licked and coughed on her hands before pulling on freezer doors and items in the dry food section at the IGA grocery store on Pinewood Road on Saturday.
- The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is reopening today. Sixty-six branches will be available to customers by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled online, and many services are now available as online transactions. In-person branch visitors will be required to practice social distancing-- and the number of customers in a branch at a time will be limited.
- The Chairman and CEO of Gilead Sciences says his company's experimental drug Remdesivir could get to coronavirus patients very soon. On CBS' Face The Nation, Daniel O'Day said he's hopeful patients who need the drug will get it by the early this week. The drug received emergency use approval from the FDA and O'Day says the entire supply has been donated.
