- The number of coronavirus cases in South Carolina is approaching seven-thousand. One-hundred-and-thirty-five new cases were confirmed yesterday. Eight additional deaths were also announced. That brings the state's death toll to 283.
- Outdoor dining is reopening in South Carolina. Yesterday was the first day in over a month that Palmetto State residents could go out to eat. Restaurants are still able to provide curbside and take-out service in addition to offering outdoor dining. Patrons are still being asked to practice social distancing.
- Seven counties are designated to get individual federal assistance. Residents of Aiken, Colleton, Hampton, Marlboro, Oconee, Orangeburg, and Pickens counties can get disaster assistance from FEMA. This comes after tornadoes caused damage on April 12th and 13th. Registration can be done on the FEMA app or at disasterassistance.gov.
- Gas prices are on the decline in the Midlands. GasBuddy says prices at the pump dropped six cents a gallon in the past week. In Columbia, gas prices are down ten cents from a month ago. Drivers are paying an average of one-34 a gallon, in comparison to one-75 a gallon nationally.
- Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says President Trump isn't happy China didn't let international scientists in earlier to study COVID-19. Speaking on Fox Business yesterday, Mnuchin said the President is coordinating with U.S. intelligence agencies to find the origins of the virus and what China knew in the beginning. However, Mnuchin reiterated that President Trump's number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of the American people, as well as the economy.
